International Women in Engineering Day, celebrated annually on June 23, recognizes the contributions of women engineers and encourages their participation in STEM fields. The Women in Tech @ Xperi employee resource group is proud to highlight the recent opportunities our female leaders and engineers have had to represent Xperi at global conferences.
Women in Tech Global Conference
In May at the Women in Tech Global Conference, Spoorti Hallur, manager of software development, presented a session titled, “Transitioning to an Engineering Manager from an Individual Contributor.” Her session addressed the uncertainty many individual contributors face when considering a move into management. She offered guidance on identifying the right path — whether architecture, product or program management — and how to pursue it with confidence.
“Being part of the Women in Tech Global Conference was more than just speaking — it was about connection,” said Spoorti. “The most rewarding part was when a couple of engineers reached out afterward seeking mentorship — a reminder that when we share our journeys authentically, we create space for others to find clarity in theirs.”
Samara Winterfeld, vice president of product strategy, and Marie Goepfer, vice president of financial planning & analysis and executive sponsor of the Women in Tech @ Xperi employee resource group, also shared their insights at the conference in a session titled “Cross-Team Collaboration for Career Growth – Insights from Media & Entertainment Executives.” They discussed their experience collaborating across product strategy and finance, emphasizing the importance of stepping outside one’s comfort zone for career growth.
Daina Emmanuel, senior director of software development and chair of the Women in Tech @ Xperi ERG, delivered a powerful talk titled “Building Resilience and Confidence: #ToBeHer in Navigating Challenges in Your Career Journey.” She shared personal stories of overcoming challenges, building community and striving to make a difference.
Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit
In June, Elena Luchian, director of software development, represented Xperi at the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit in Warsaw, Poland. Her session, “How to Optimize for Low-Latency Live Streaming,” offered technical insights into low-latency video streaming and buffer management to an audience of passionate engineers, innovators and tech leaders.
“The energy, the conversations and the commitment to pushing boundaries in science and engineering were absolutely inspiring,” said Elena. “I’m grateful for the opportunity and proud to be part of this global movement empowering women in technology.”
Katerina Lenkevich, senior project manager, led a workshop on “Women Leading Without Authority (a.k.a. Getting Smart People to Do the Right Thing)”— a deep dive into the power of servant leadership.
“As a program manager — formerly a project manager and scrum master — I’ve come to realize that leadership isn’t only about titles,” said Katerina. “Titles do matter, but leadership also thrives through influence, empathy, delivering value and having a clear sense of purpose. This session was inspired by my own journey and shaped by the insights of the brilliant people I’ve been fortunate to work with. It reflects a reality many of us face: driving impact in complex environments where we’re responsible for moving work forward — even when the people we collaborate with don’t report to us.”
These presentations showcase the brilliance and leadership of just a few of Xperi’s many women in STEM. As we celebrate International Women in Engineering Day, we honor their achievements and reaffirm our commitment to empowering women engineers.
