Xperi Hosts Fifth Annual Employee Hackathon

11月 14, 2022 Xperi

The fifth annual Xperi Hackathon took place over a 24-hour period this October. A Hackathon is a social coding team competition where teams get together to write software for an idea of their choice and have fun implementing it over a 24-hour period.

The event had humble beginnings in 2018 and 2019 as it began in Bangalore. The Hackathon was conducted virtually in 2020 and it grew to include Poland. The virtual Hackathon in 2021 saw increased participation from EMEA and APAC. Now, the hybrid Hackathon has expanded worldwide.

This year we had 220 participants from over four countries split into 46 teams with six themes based on technological and business priorities, resulting in six winning teams. It was a great opportunity for team bonding and engagement, as well as feeding into the pipeline of new ideas.

There was a fun build-up leading up to the event with activities to keep the energy and interest up including spot-the-differences, a retrospective Xperi Now and Then quiz and a logo design contest.

The ideas that come out of the Hackathon are not just product or IP ideas, but also things that help improve internal processes, engineer productivity and product quality.

“Congratulations to the winners and a huge shout-out to the organizing committee,” said Alok Kumar, Staff Engineer – Software Development, “It was great fun and a learning experience.”

A huge thank you to all the participants, judges and organizers. The energy on display was truly fantastic!
