In October, a small group of Calabasas-based employees and some friends of Xperi spent the afternoon in the kitchen of Project Angel Food in Hollywood chopping vegetables, scooping proteins and sides, and packaging meals.
“We did our best to follow the direction of the patient chefs and longtime staffers,” said Tricia Nelson, Xperi editorial director. “We had a great time in the process!”
Founded in 1989, Project Angel Food prepares and delivers over one million medically tailored meals each year—free of charge—to the homes of Angelenos of all ages affected by life-threatening illnesses. Declared an essential service during the pandemic, the organization expanded to provide food and nutritional counseling services to 2,400+ people daily—a 54 percent increase from previous numbers. Their 80 percent volunteer-driven kitchen currently creates 13 variations of each menu to meet individual client needs.
In June 2022, Project Angel Food served its 15 millionth meal.
You can support the organization by volunteering, making a donation or by purchasing the delicious desserts of their annual Thanksgiving pie sale.
